Father Christmas has discovered an exciting new home for his magical grotto adventure! Now nestled in the enchanting gardens of the Holburne Museum, this beloved festive experience is bigger, brighter, and more magical than ever before.

Step into a winter wonderland where joyous tales come alive with Father Christmas and his cheerful Elf. Receive a special, elf-crafted gift made just for you, and capture a cherished photo with Father Christmas himself!

More than just an ordinary grotto, Father Christmas’ Grotto is presented to you by talented professional actors, right in the heart of Bath. Be whisked away to Father Christmas’s cozy North Pole living room, join the merry elves in gently waking him up, and listen to the delightful story of their plan to make this Christmas the most magical one yet!

A small gift for adults, too, is lovingly crafted for you by the merry welcome elves, adding a touch of magic to your visit. Plus, warm up with a delightful selection of festive refreshments from the Cafe Chalet, filled with seasonal treats and cozy flavours. Get ready to immerse yourself in Bath’s most enchanting and joyful Christmas adventure!

THE GROTTO- Suitable for ages 3 - 11

All Adults and Children entering the grotto experience must purchase a ticket.

MY FIRST CHRISTMAS - Suitable for ages 0 - 2

A tiny-tailored, magical experience designed especially for 0–2 year olds. Gentle, sensory-led moments with Father Christmas and his playful Elf Sprinkles: soft snowflakes of sound, twinkling lights, and calming, cuddle-friendly discoveries made just for your little one. Each visit includes an elf-crafted sensory gift chosen to soothe and delight tiny senses, plus a treasured family photograph with Father Christmas to capture this very first wonder. A quiet, cozy celebration of firsts—made just for your baby.

FAQs

  • To find the Holburne Museum, go to Great Pulteney Street, Bath, BA2 4DB.

    It is a ten-minute walk from the town center along the beautiful Great Pulteney Street, or a 15-minute stroll from Bath Spa Train Station. The Museum is located in Sydney Gardens

    Once you enter grounds, follow the signs to the Grotto experience. The event is held outside of the main Museum in a purpose built space

    The site is fully accessible and toilets can be found within the main Museum

  • Father Christmas' Cafe at the Holburne Museum

    After stepping into the wonder of our Grotto experience or before you arrive continue the festive joy in the grounds of The Holburne Museum with a visit to Father Christmas' Café.

     Warm up with a velvety hot chocolate (with cream & marshmallows if you wish! or a splash of Baileys for the adults!), freshly brewed coffee or teas.
     Indulge in festive treats, cakes, and sweet snacks, or grab a light bite before heading home.

    Father Christmas Café is the perfect way to round off your family visit — a cosy place to chat, refuel, and soak up the seasonal spirit after your magical grotto adventure.

    Lunch and Breakfast can also be purchased from the Museum cafe

  • The Museum is served with a pay and display car park, however this is due to get very busy and we advise planning alternative parking for your experience.

    The Holburne Museum is within walking distance of all central Car Parks and Park and Ride stops.

  • The experience can be enjoyed by all ages and is most suitable for children ages 3- 12. There is plenty of fun for adults too.

    The Grotto features a song, a story and a chance to take your own photo with Father Christmas as you receive your small gift.

    We encourage you to take videos and photos through out the performance

    Please be aware that each performance group may consist of up to 50 people.

    All children must be accompanied by a paying adult

    We continue to offer free adult tickets for carers – please get in touch to book.

  • Toilet facilities can be found with the main museum space when open, offering accessible toilets, gender natural and male and female.

    Toilets can also be found in the park just behind the grotto space.

  • Yes, of course!

  • Ticket / Refund Policy:

    All tickets are non-refundable once purchased.

    Tickets may be exchanged for a different time slot, subject to availability and at the sole discretion of the Grotto.

    Requests for exchanges must be made at least 48 hours in advance in writing, via email.
